Printer and Printers Maintenance Tips

Be it IBM, HP, or Ricoh Printer and Printers components that you use, it is obvious that you would like them to last long, and more importantly, render hassle-free services. Knowledge is power, and a little care towards your Printer and Printers components can add years to their life. But care doesn't just mean heeding to what cartridges and paper you feed your paper with. It refers to many more things. Here are some of the tips you can keep in mind:

There, on the Head...
The Print head is one of the common places that cause trouble, if not taken care of properly. Anyway, you do not want to clean it every now and then. First, make sure that the printer is running regularly, at least 2-3 times a week, so that the ink doesn't dry up. Occasionally, however, you would need to clean the print head gently with a soft cotton cloth or a Q-tip dipped in water - don't use alcohol or tissues.

They Need to Sleep Too...
Don't forget to turn off your printer at the end of the day. Turning off the printer helps prevent clogging of the nozzles and improves the performance. In most printers, using the printer's on/off switch will fully activate the print-head capping and precludes clogs. So, use the on/off on the printer, not a power-strip for the purpose.

Printers are Allergic to Dust...
Paper, as you can imagine, has minute quantities of paper-dust as well as debris with it. Though may not be visible to your eyes, they can accumulate on and bother your Printer and Printers head when it prints through hundreds of sheets. So, make certain to clean the papers before you use them in your printer. If you live in a dusty area, apart from cleaning the paper sheets, you should cover your printer with a cloth when it is not in use.
Use the above mentioned points and cherish your printing device for long. You can find more information about Printer and Printers accessories from Superwarehouse.com. It is an online store with hundreds and thousands of software and hardware products, all from renowned brands. Don't forget to check out the products in the Ricoh Printer and Printers supplies section.

How To Recycle & Refill Brother Ink Cartridges or Laser Toner Cartridge

Brother Printer Cartridge

The refilling of this cartridge is messy therefore it is advised that gloves should be worn and the place where refilling is done should be covered with a newspaper or some other absorbent material.

The following steps can guide you to an easy refill of your brother printer cartridges. The different models have little variations in the procedures other remaining the same.

Brother printer cartridge LC01C, LC01Y, LC01M and LC01BK (MFC 7000 series)

1. Place any absorbent material like a towel underneath before refilling the brother ink cartridges.

2. After filling ink in the syringe bottle remove the needle and put the cone shaped adaptor on it.

3. Find the hole in the cartridge through which the ink flows out and turn the exit port down facing your lap.

4. Slowly inject the ink from the syringe bottle into the cartridge until the ink starts coming out of the vent hole and is not foamy.

5. Now turn the cartridge the other way round so that the vent hole faces you and the exit port is towards your lap.

6. Put the needle back into the syringe bottle and inject the needle into the vent hole. Continue injecting till the ink comes out of the exit hole and stops foaming.

7. Leave the cartridge in this position for about ten minutes. Then repeat the 6th step and let it rest for another ten minutes.

8. Install the cartridge in the printer. If it has to be transported then an electrical tape can be used to cover the exit and vent holes but must be removed before printing.

Brother printer cartridge for Brother MFC-7150 and MFC-7160

There is a sponge inside the cartridge which makes the refilling procedure sticky. The first step remains the same.

1. Locate the exit hole at the bottom where there is a large plug.

2. Also locate the vent hole at the bottom which exists on the same side as the large handle on the top of the cartridge.

3. Turning the exit port towards the lap place the vent hole to the right and vice versa. Seal the exit port with a black electrical tape.

4. Take out the handle on the top of the cartridge. Inside you will see two metallic seals, the smaller one round and the larger one rectangular. Either remove the seals or make holes in them.

5. To fill the syringe bottle with ink squeeze the syringe bottle and the needle be inserted into the ink bottle. Relax the grip and let the syringe suck the ink into the bottle.

6. Taking the syringe bottle slowly inject the ink into the sponge deeply through the rectangular hole till the sponge saturates.

7. Also inject ink in the round hole till the outer chamber is full. After injection seal the round hole with black electrical tape carefully. Also seal the rectangular hole with tape.

8. Put the plastic handle back on the top. Take the cartridge to a sink and remove the tape from the bottom. Let the extra ink drops flow out.

9. Printer should be installed now.

Brother printer cartridge LC41C, LC41Y, LC41M, and LC41BK

In this model the ink is retained because of the valve. The first step is the same.

1. Find the label saying LC41 with the letters such as C, M, Y or BK representing colors.

2. Holding the label side up, on the right side find a window towards the top of the cartridge. Make a hole in the window with a smoldering iron or some heated metal thing.

3. Fill the syringe bottle like step 5 mentioned above.

4. Inject the ink slowly with the syringe bottle into the window on top right of the cartridge. Fill the entire cartridge.

5. Seal the window with black electrical tape.

6. Install in the printer.

Brother printer cartridge HJ100 and HJ400

There is very difference in this cartridge. The first step remains the same.

1. Start with a screw in the vent hole which is opposite to the longest side of the cartridge which is opposite to the print head.

2. Draw the plug out with screw. Fill the syringe bottle half with ink and insert in the hole. Inject slowly and deeply into the sponge.

3. Expect some dripping. Tape the cartridge you have to transport it.

Laser Toner Cartridge

The refilling of a laser toner cartridge is very mush similar to adding petrol or gas to your car. The refilling of toner should be done at a place where there is no breeze. It can burn so work where there is no flame. Also do not inhale it as it is irritating.

The three basic types of laser toner cartridges are:

o Canister: a tube for holding toner

o Drum: a cartridge with gears and a drum which has a gelatin coating

o Toner and developer: similar to drum cartridge but using toner and developer both.

Canister Cartridge

1. Spread some absorbent material like a towel or newspaper. Locate a plug at the end of cartridge.

2. Remove the plug if you find it. If you don't then create a hole which is away from the paper path (smooth plastic surface).

3. If you create a hole then carefully remove the shavings. 4. Shake the bottle of toner and pour the entire bottle into the cartridge with a funnel or paper funnel.

5. Put the plug back and seal it with a black electrical tape.

6. Install in the printer. The refilling of these cartridges can be done a lot of times.

Drum Cartridges

These are more complex cartridges. The 'pretty' drum can have three colored coatings: red, blue or green. Before refilling you have to find the toner hopper and the waste hopper.

o Locate the drum and imagine that it runs down to the end of the cartridge.

o Lay it down to that the drum runs from left to right in front of you. The side near to you is the 'near side' and the one far from you is 'far side'.

o One of these sides is larger than the other.

o The largest side is 'toner hopper' and smaller one is 'waste hopper'.

Now to refill follow the following steps.

1. Locate the drum but do not touch it. It may be under a shutter.

2. Find the toner hopper. You will see a translucent plug on one side. Remove it. If you do not find it then create a hole in the toner hopper away from the paper path.

3. Vacuum the drum of shavings but do not touch the drum.

4. Shake the bottle of toner and pour the entire bottle into the cartridge with a funnel.
5.Seal the hole with the pug or a black electrical tape.

Toner & Developer Cartridges

This cartridge is very much like the drum cartridge but it has two plugs. The larger one is for toner and smaller one for developer. You will need medium sized flat and cross headed screwdrivers.

1. Find the waste box at the end of the cartridge and remove the screws. There is a sliding door for the waste box.

2. Behind the waste box is a plastic plate held by a single screw. You are to arrange it in such a way that the green colored part is towards the upper right and screw towards lower left. Screw it open.

3. There is a clip above the green side. Push it with a flat screw driver to release the plate.

4. You will now see a large cap for the toner. Get off the cap or make a hole in it.

5. Fill the cartridge with toner and seal it.

6. Towards the left centre is a small plug for the developer. Make a hole or unplug it.

7. Fill the hole with developer and seal.

8. Place the plastic plate and the waste box.

9. Shake the cartridge softly.

Choosing a Printer Made Easy

When shopping for a new printer, there are many factors to consider. You of course need to take into account your finances in this declining economy, as well as what you plan to use it for. There are 4 main types of printers to choose from: Laser, Inkjet, Multifunctional and Photo Printers. Each has a different speed, quality and price tag attached.

Laser printers are more expensive initially than other printers. However, they cost less to use and maintain. They print more quickly and clearly than other printers. Laser printers typically only print in black or gray. There are, however, color lasers available for those who are interested in the high quality and speed, and can afford the initial cost. They work similar to photocopiers and use toner, which lasts much longer than ink needed for other types of printers. Laser printers also offer an extensive number of features. They are found most commonly in businesses.

Another type of printer is the Inkjet. It prints much slower than a laser printer but still produces a high quality image. The price of an Inkjet printer is considerably less than that of a Laser printer. However, the ink can be fairly expensive, sometimes as much as the printer itself. So before you buy an Inkjet printer, find out how many ink cartridges the printer needs and the cost of each. The most common colors are Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow; however, some have additional colors. Check also to see if there are ink refill kits available, where you buy the ink and fill the old cartridge with the ink yourself. Some stores even offer the service of refilling your ink for you for a reduced cost. However, if you have a high-end printer under warranty, use only manufacturer ink to be sure any problems would be covered. Inkjet printers are most common in households.

Both Inkjet and Laser printers have Multifunctional printers. Not only do they print, they offer features such as photocopying, scanning and faxing documents. Multifunctional printers are found commonly in small businesses and are becoming more popular in individual homes.

Photo printers are used exclusively for printing photos of high quality. They generally cost more than an Inkjet printer. Extra costs to consider when buying a Photo printer are the photo paper and ink, both color and black and white. Again, find out how many ink cartridges the photo printer will need, as well as the cost of each. Many Photo printers can print photos directly from memory cards inserted into the Photo printer itself. For those planning to print many photos, this is a very convenient option.

Once you have decided what type of printer you would like to purchase, read reviews online about the different brands available. Also, compare the prices online at various stores to make sure you get the best price and the best printer for you and your family.

A Look at CoolIT CPU Cooling Performance

Introduction

Peltier cooling has been around for over a hundred years, but has only recently become available to the masses for use in computers. CoolIT is one of the few CPU cooler manufacturers to sell CPU cooling solutions featuring peltier technology. With all the theoretical benefits of using peltiers, we wanted to test CoolIT coolers against our two most popular CPU coolers. We ordered in three of CoolIT's closed-loop liquid coolers; Pure (does not feature peltiers), Eliminator (three peltiers), and Freezone (six peltiers) to determine if peltier cooling is useful in today's computers.

But first, a brief explanation of what a exactly what a peltier is: A peltier uses a TEC (thermo-electric cooler) to act like a "heatpump" to draw heat away from the object it is cooling. They work by applying a voltage across a thermocouple, which causes a temperature difference. More information on peltier coolers can be found here. By using a powerful enough peltier cooler, you can achieve below-ambient temperatures on the object you are cooling.

However, there are a few drawbacks. First, peltier coolers are fairly expensive. CoolIT's cheapest cooler to offer peltiers retails for about $160. Second, they require quite a bit of power. A single peltier cooler used by CoolIT can draw up to 15watts. With their high-end cooler using 6 peltiers, the cooler needs more than 80watts of power. Thats almost as much power draw as the CPU they are cooling. Third, peltiers actually add heat to your system. That 15watts of power has to go somewhere, and it is converted into heat. The exciting thing about the CoolIT coolers is that by putting the peltiers right by the exhaust fan for the system, that additional heat does not affect your computer hardware, because it is immediately vented out the back of the computer.

Lastly, I need to caution that using peltier coolers can actually be dangerous for your computer hardware. Any time you are working with below-ambient temperatures, you have to worry about condensation -- just like a glass of cold water on a hot day. When we left the two coolers featuring peltiers running on a bench, the coolers accumulated condensation after about 20 minutes. While the heat from a CPU would prevent this from happening (the heat would not allow these coolers to operate at such a low temperature), a system that does not POST properly can potentially allow condensation to happen. When a system does not POST, the CPU is usually not being given very much voltage, which means it will not be providing any heat. This would allow the cooler to eventually get below the ambient temperature. After a few minutes, condensation can form on the cooler and drip onto your components, causing sparks to fly!

Creating Captivating Article Content

Are you an article writer? If so, what type of articles do you write? When this question is asked, the subject matter isn’t really being sought after, rather they way that you write. Do you write interesting articles; articles that your readers can’t wait to finish reading? Or do you write traditional, boring articles; articles that your readers may not even finish reading?

If you answered traditional boring articles or even a collection of them both, you may want to reexamine the way that you write. After all, it isn’t a secret that readers actually like to enjoy what they read. That is why it is extremely important that you write
captivating content.
As it was mentioned above, the subject of your articles, although important, is not as important as the way that your articles are written. For that reason, you will want to write articles that interest you, but also ones that will draw in readers from all walks of life. The best way to come up with these article subjects is to use the internet to your advantage. After all, the internet is likely where your articles will be published. To find “hot topics, to write about, you will want to use keyword research tools, search engines, news websites, and shopping websites. When it comes to finding “hot topics, these are your best sources of information. Once you have found an interesting and popular topic to write about, you can then focus on the way that your article is written.

The goal of any article writer is to have their article read and loved by readers; however, there are some cases where this is more important than others. Many internet users, namely webmasters use articles to create back-links to their websites. These back-links are used increase website traffic. The only problem is that many article directories only allow links at the end of an article. This means for you to benefit from article distribution and back-linking, your readers must make it to the end of your article. If you are a webmaster who is using this technique, it is extremely important that you go the extra mile to ensure that your articles are interesting and easy to read.

Speaking of interesting, the best way to determine whether or not your article is interesting is if you like it. After you have created your article, you will need to proofread it. After you have thoroughly proofread your article, you are urged to review it one more time. This time, you will want to examine it as a reader, not the article writer. If you find your content dry, dull, or boring, there is a good chance that your readers will as well.

An article that is easy to read is also important. You can write a captivating article, but if it difficult to read, it won’t do you any good. When it comes to easy to read articles, grammar is an important component. Whether you are planning on selling your articles, using them for your own personal use, or submitting them to article directories, you need to take the time to proofread your articles. Many internet users claim that the number one turn off is articles that are poorly written. There is no quicker way to lose a reader than to have an article that is poorly proofread.

In conjunction with readable articles, grammar wise, it is also important that you examine the words that you use. To sound professional, many article writers use big, technical sounding words. This is okay to do is some cases, but it is typically advised against. The only time that you should use big, technical words is when you are writing an article that will be read by experts in the same field. The second biggest turn off for readers is content that regularly contains words they do not know or understand. In a way, this is similar to creating dry, boring content. If your readers cannot understand exactly what you mean, they may find reading your article to be useless or a waste of their time.

The best way to write captivating articles is to write from your heart. When it comes to article writing, even just a little bit of creativity can go a long way. Creativity is what can turn an otherwise boring article into one that your readers will not only enjoy reading, but one that they may also recommend to others.

How to build a Computer

Building a computer is not like trying to break the bank at an online casino or a casino in Las
Vegas, it is very simple, once you know how.
To make a computer work you must have a mother board a processor some ram a CD ROM drive and a hard drive ...

with these key components you can build a computer than can easily be upgraded ever few years instead of having to get an entirely new PC.

The first step in building a computer is to find a nice sized clean workspace. The next thing you must do it to lay everything out on the table so that when it is needed it is close.

Before going any further open the box for the motherboard and remove the manual from the box. The manual will tell you everything you need to know about building the computer. Not reading the manual for the motherboard before starting to build your PC is like gambling in a casino at the craps table, without knowing the rules for craps, and you would not play a casino table game without knowing the Gambling Expressions or the rules for that game would you?

Take the computer case and open the side panel. This will open the space you will be building the computer in. before touching any of the actual computer components make sure you have attacked your anti static line to your workspace and your wrist, a shock from your hand to one of the computer components can damage them permanently.

With the computer case you will have a bag of screws. In this bag are some posts, place the mother board in the case just to see where the holes line up, and in each of the holes place a post screw. These posts are used as spacers so that the motherboard does not sit directly on the computer case.

After putting in the posts, the mother board can be placed on top of them and screwed into place. When screwing in the motherboard make sure to use the paper washers on each of the screws attaching the motherboard to the case.

Now you can carefully open the processor box and remove it, carefully line up the cutout in the processor with the one in the motherboard, and gently put the processor in place. Once the computers processor is on the motherboard, make sure to lock it, to stop it from moving.

Before you can put on the heat sink and fan you must put on a layer of thermal glue to the back of the processor, this glue makes sure the heat flows from the processor to the heat sink and fan. Without this glue the processor will over heat and burn out fast.

Most modern motherboards have a Nic card, video card and sound card as part of the mother board. This make is much easier to build the computer because that is 3 less things that have to be purchased or installed.

Now you can install the Ram. This is done by locating the cut out of the ram chip and lining it up with the slot for the ram on the mother board. If you are not sure where to install the ram make sure to check the motherboards manual it will show you exactly where to install the ram.

Now all that is left is the hard drive CD Rom drive and some wires connecting the computers on and off button to the motherboard.

The mother board will come with the cables you need to install your heard drive and your CD Rom drive. It is simple to do just plug one end of the cable into its place on the motherboard and the other end to the device you are attaching; it is as easy as playing Keno.

There will still be 4 or 5 wires that will need to be hooked up from the case to the motherboard. These wires are for the on and off button the reset button and the power lights on the computers case.

By reading the manual and following the directions you can build a computer in about an hour.

DeFragging Your Hard Drive

A multi-tasker needs all the RAM his PC will handle. I just increased mine to 2GB and I can tell a big difference. On the other hand, 512MB is a pretty healthy amount of real memory for a notebook - especially if you are using a PIV processor. If you have a Celeron, however, it needs a lot of help. I have resorted to the reformat, reinstall process a few times - but it was always with Celerons and the computers were slow from the second you turned them on.

I would first try dumping all of your background programs. You can do that by running `msconfig', choosing `selective startup', going to the startup tab, and unchecking everything but your antivirus program. Another software maintenance issue (besides defrag) is keeping all of your junk files cleaned out (recycle bin, temp files, temp internet files, cache, history, etc.). I like a little program called `Window Washer' but there are several on the market, another problem you may be having is heat. If the underside of your notebook is not well ventilated it could be running hot - and that will really slow it down.

Multi-tasking is a memory thirsty pastime. Your CPU can clearly cope. Adding 256MB of RAM would make a difference; 512MB would have a much bigger impact though. Don't reformat mate, you'll be gutted afterwards, as you can never get things quite the same again. First, I'll list below, a way you may be able to greatly improve things by simply tweaking windows a bit.

You may or may not be familiar with Virtual Memory. (If you are, prepare to suck eggs, sorry) It's an area of Hard Drive specifically allocated by Windows to act as an overflow for when your system runs low on Physical RAM. So if your system has 512MB and your Multi-tasking requires 1024MB, Windows will use 512MB of Virtual RAM to make up the extra.

When you defragment your Hard Drive, the Virtual Memory is shown as Data that cannot be moved (Green). The Problem with Windows is that it manages your Virtual Memory Dynamically. Setting a minimum and a maximum value that, changes as and when required. This tends to slow things down as the Virtual Memory allocation becomes fragmented on your Hard Drive. In turn this delays your Processor as it retrieves Data from all over the place instead of simply off your Memory module(s).

The best way to overcome this is to monitor Task Manager while you are multi-Tasking. And while the PC is at rest. You need to note the "Page File" usage (This is another name for Virtual Memory). See how high it goes when you're hammering it, and how low it goes when it's resting. Deduct max from min and add around 10%. This is the figure you'll need later. Your aim is to end up with a Page File in one place with no fragments. All you're doing is optimizing your system.

Start by, Defragging your Hard Drive. Now left click Start, right click My Computer, left click Properties. You should now have the System Properties Window open. Click the Advanced tab,Performance Settings,Advanced. In The Virtual Memory area, click Change. Select Custom Size and insert your calculated figure (Max-Min) +10%.

You need to insert the same figure for both Max and Min. This will fix the memory size and stop windows from expanding and shrinking it dynamically. You'll probably be required to restart before the changes will take effect. Once restarted, you can go to Defragmenter and analyze the Drive to ensure you have just one Fragment of Page File. This information can be viewed in the report generated by Defragmenter. If you find the Page File is fragmented, try defragging it again to try and clear a contiguous area big enough for it.
